Tap's Thursday Picks

NFL
Houston (2-10) at Jacksonville (3-9) 7:25 pm NFLN - I have said it once and I will say it again, the best thing about the Thursday Night Football game is the fact all of the NFL teams play on Thursday night. Some play on Thanksgiving, but most play on NFL Network during the year. Man, if I were a kid and I am a Jacksonville fan, I would be so fired up to see my team playing in front of a national audience.

Speaking of Jacksonville, raise your hand if you thought the Jaguars would be in better shape than Houston at the end of the year?  Jacksonville has won three of their last four games including a win against these very Texans. They look pretty competent with Chad Henne at quarterback and Maurice Jones-Drew is having an adequate year. What's weird though is Jaguars have won all their games on the road meaning the fine folks of DUUUUUVAAAAAALLLLLL have not seen a victory. But they should be fired up for a primetime game plus the team playing better than expected looking for their fourth win of the year.

Houston is a disaster. I mean what is there to say about their latest loss? They played with New England, a playoff team, and had a lead at halftime?  Ben Tate had a nice day, but when he faced Jacksonville two weeks ago, he only had one yard on seven carries. Case Keenum looked alright, but the Brett Favre comparison has careened off the goddamn cliff for good reason. Until Houston wins a game, they should not be favored nor should people pick them to win. JAX 21-17

CFB
19.) Louisville at Cincinnati 6:30 pm ESPN - It is sad this is the last time these two will play in college
football. That is the state of affairs in college athletics these days. I hope these two team play again because it is awesome they play for The Keg of Nails. It might be one of my favorite trophies from a rivalry game. Cincinnati has quite the turnaround this season. They started off the year getting blown out by Illinois and started off the AAC season by losing to South Florida. If they win this game, Cincinnati could find their way into a BCS bowl which might be the most embarrassing revenge from the Big East. I feel like people just forgot about Louisville after they lost to UCF. Teddy Bridgewater is doing Teddy things and their defensive is still strong. I am still confident in the Cards and think they can get a road win. It should be close though and a fun one at that. LOU 24-21
