I wanted to put a bow on the college football season. It really was a weird year whether it be on the field or off the field. No one expected Auburn to be there for the National Championship, and some may have thought Florida State would be there yet no one expected Jameis Winston to pull a Johnny Manziel and probably win the Heisman in his first year as a quarterback. Bowl season is now upon us, and I thought the best way for me to talk about each games is basically just have a quick, short thought about it almost like a tweet. I talk mindlessly at @SnoTap12 if you want to follow.
Saturday December 21st
Gilden New Mexico Bowl
Washington State v. Colorado State 1:00 pm ESPN - You watch this game to see if Mike Leach can piss someone off and if Wazzu has bros chugging Fireball in New Mexico.
Las Vegas Bowl
20. Fresno State v. 25. USC 2:30 ABC - Is Derek Carr worth the price of admission against this USC defense, and how will the Trojans play with their third head coach of the year?
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
Buffalo vs San Diego State 4:30 pm ESPN - KHALIL MACK, KHALIL MACK KHALIL MACK KHALIL MACK
R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl
Tulane vs. Louisiana-Lafayette 8:00 pm ESPN - I think it is really cool they pair two Louisiana schools together in this one. FOR ALL OF THE CRAWFISH.
Monday December 23rd
Beef O'Brady Bowl
East Carolina vs Ohio 1 pm ESPN - I really have no true insight on this one except for it is nice they schedule this during the day so we can watch football throughout the afternoon.
Tuesday December 24th
Sheraton Hawaii Bowl
Boise State v. Oregon State 7 pm ESPN - Hawaii has not been able to put up points since the days of Colt Brennan but these two teams play no defense and can put up some numbers. Should be a sneaky fun one to watch.
Thursday December 26th
Little Ceasers Bowl
Pittsburgh vs. Bowling Green 5 pm ESPN - Bowling Green is the latest team to lose their head coach. Panthers get out of the BBVA Compass Bowl and their reward is Detroit, Michigan. Congratz!
San Diego Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl
Utah State v Northern Illinois 8:30 pm ESPN - Interesting matchup for Jordan Lynch as Utah State can play some defense, maybe more so than most opponents in the MAC. He will be challenged.
Friday December 27th
Military Bowl
Marshall v. Maryland 1:30 pm ESPN - I have nothing important to say about this one. I feel like this is the most unwatchable game on he slate.
Texas Bowl
Syracuse v. Minnesota 5:00 pm ESPN - Hopefully, Golden Gophers can end their streak of getting dick punched while playing a bowl game. Syracuse is not a team to take lightly.
Fight Hunger Bowl
BYU v. Washington 8:30 pm ESPN - This is a sneaky good game too. Keith Price against a tough BYU defense. Kyle Von Noy's final hurrah against Bishop Sankey. This should be fun.
Saturday December 28th
Pinstripe Bowl
Rutgers v. Notre Dame 11:00 am ESPN - It is Nova! It is Rees! It is a battle to see who can set the record for most interceptions in a game! Also this game will be funny because New York City is supposed to be a Rutgers city, and it will be 90 percent Notre Dame fans.
Belk Bowl
Cincinnati v. North Carolina 2:20 pm ESPN - WE ARE UP ALL NIGHT TO GET BELK'Y. Pretty excited to make all sorts of Belk jokes again, you guys.
Russell Athletic Bowl
Miami v. Louisville 5:45 pm ESPN - Teddy Bridgewater should make mincemeat of Miami's defense, and all the hype will be back. There is the whole subplot of a former Miami coach now coaching for Louisville too.
Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl
Michigan vs. Kansas State 9:15 pm ESPN - I enjoy this game does not start til 9 pm meaning I can ignore people at the bar that night. I also enjoy Brady Hoke going on the hot seat after this one... Not.... Good.
Monday December 30th
Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl
Middle Tennessee v. Navy 10:45 am ESPN - Why is this game being played at 10:45? Why am I complaining about a Monday morning game?
Music City Bowl
Ole Miss v. Georgia Tech 2:15 pm ESPN - Dr. Bo Wallace makes a road trip to Nashville. Georgia Tech will try to still run the wishbone even though it is 2013 (I love it so goddamn much).
Alamo Bowl
Oregon v. Texas 5:45 pm ESPN - I wonder if my buddy Seth had something to do with Oregon's football team getting in trouble for snowball fights. Nonetheless Mack Brown could get fired by halftime.
Holiday Bowl
Arizona State v. Texas Tech 9:15 pm ESPN - Oh another late game for me to watch at the bars (Yup, more than likely going out that day) and see if Arizona State can drop 70 points
Tuesday December 31st
AdvoCare V100 Bowl
Arizona vs. Boston College 11:30 am ESPN - The annual New Year's Eve tradition when I wonder why the hell there is a bowl game in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Sun Bowl
Virginia Tech v. UCLA 1:00 pm CBS - This feels like too good of a game for El Paso. Brett Hundley against the Hokies defense should be fun.
Liberty Bowl
Rice vs. Mississippi State 3 pm ESPN - I would recommend you start drinking to make this game bearable. I have no answers for this one. Cool video of Rice celebrating a bowl berth though.
Chick-fil-A Bowl
Duke vs. Texas A&M 7:00 pm ESPN - This really feels like Johnny Manziel's victory lap. I realize that's discrediting Duke but yeah that's how I feel, not sorry.
Wednesday January 1st
Gator Bowl
Nebraska v. Georgia 11:00 am ESPN2 - WE ALREADY SAW THIS BOWL GAME. PICK ANOTHER MATCHUP DAMMIT
Heart of Dallas Bowl
UNLV vs. North Texas 11:00 am ESPNU - If anyone watches this game over any of the games on during this time slot, I think less of you. Even if you are a fan of these teams.
Outback Bowl
Iowa vs. LSU 12:00 pm ESPN - Remember the last time these two teams played in a New Year's Day bowl game? MY GAWD THAT'S DREW TATE'S MUSIC!!!!
Capitol One Bowl
Wisconsin vs. South Carolina 12:00 pm ABC - This should be a fun game with Clowney against Wisconsin's offensive line and how Badgers defense will handle Mike Davis.
Rose Bowl
Michigan State v. Stanford 4:00 pm ESPN - For all those people who bitch about how college football is played today, watch this game and enjoy the old school feel to this one. This is your type of football game.
Fiesta Bowl
UCF v. Baylor 7:30 pm ESPN - It is going to be real fun to watch Bryce Petty and Blake Bortles play against each other. People think this game will be a dud, but there is a chance it could be pretty good.
Thursday January 2nd
Sugar Bowl
Oklahoma v. Alabama 7:30 pm ESPN - Oh this will be an absolute nightmare for Oklahoma. #PRAY4BELLDOZER
Friday January 3rd
Cotton Bowl
Oklahoma State vs. Missouri 6:30 pm FOX - I think the Cotton Bowl should rename their bowl as 'Former Big 12 Conference Matchup Bowl.'
Orange Bowl
Clemson v. Ohio State 7:30 pm ESPN - There will be scoring. There will be hitting. This will be a fun game with a ton of playmakers.
Saturday January 4th
BBVA Compass Bowl
Vanderbilt vs. Houston 12:00 pm ESPN - I have no idea why this bowl does not happen until January 4th. Commodores need not to come in expecting to win.
Sunday January 5th
GoDaddy Bowl
Arkansas State v. Ball State 8 pm ESPN - After you watch a full day of NFL Playoffs, come watch the GoDaddy Bowl!
Monday January 6th
BCS National Championship
Florida State v. Auburn 7:30 pm ESPN - Looking forward to this one with Florida State's great defense versus Auburn's rushing attack. Also expecting Jameis to go crazy against the Auburn defense. It should be great game.
Charlie.
