Blowout Baseball Highlights Day 1 of Division Series

I figured how this is going to work going forward with SnoTap and the MLB playoffs. At least in the division series, I will give short recaps during the week and then on the weekend, we will get highlights/lowlights on Monday morning. Any suggestions, feel free to tweet me @SnoTap12

St. Louis 9 Pittsburgh 1 - It was almost like SnoTap saw this one coming.  I highlighted A.J. Burnett's problems this year at Busch Stadium and it continued on Thursday afternoon. Burnett started the game off with two scoreless innings, and then things went to complete and utter shit in the third inning. He led off the inning walking Adam Wainwright and Pirate fans should have immediately poured themselves a whiskey drink by that time. After a Matt Carpenter single, Carlos Beltran, the Lord of October, blasted a three-run homer, his 15th postseason homer for his career. It went from bad to worse for Burnett as he loaded up the bases still without getting an out.  He would walk in a run and then give up a base-clearing double including a sloppy relay by the Pirates defense giving the Cardinals seven runs in the third inning and Burnett's exit of the game.

Wainwright had no problem keeping a seven-run lead. He went seven innings with only giving up three hits and striking out nine Pirates, walking no one. Wainwright had one mistake, a home run to Pedro Alvarez, but other than that, he was flawless.  Quick turnaround for the Pirates today playing at high noon. Pittsburgh needs this one.

Los Angeles 6 Atlanta 1 - Kris Medlen made a comment before the game regarding the Braves facing Clayton Kershaw. He mentioned the team's toughness (Shocker there) and thought Kershaw had not seen a team like the Braves. Welp Kris, he saw them last night and dominated them without having his best stuff. That is some scary shit if you are the rest of the league and Atlanta in this series. Kershaw struck out nine of his last eleven batters he faced and in total rung up 12 Braves batters with only scattering three hits in seven innings.

Yasiel Puig made his presence felt in his first playoff game. With the game still at zeros, Puig got on base and somehow made it to third base on a hard hit ball by Juan Uribe. Puig tested the arm of Jason Hayward who wanted to throw him out instead of worry about the runner on first launching the ball home unsuccessfully. Evan Gattis was a disaster in the field and on basepads for the Braves, but I do not know if the team has anything better for left field.

Charlie.
