Dodgers-Braves Preview: Pitching Matchups & Five Things to Watch

I made the executive decision to basically do the MLB Playoffs like I did with the Brewers this season. Meaning the previews will be the same, highlights and lowlights will show up plus some recaps and bigger pieces. Hope you enjoy.

Pitching Matchups
Game 1: Thursday October 3rd: Clayton Kershaw v. Kris Medlen 7:37 pm TBS
Game 2: Friday October 4th: Zack Greinke v. Mike Minor 5:07 pm TBS
Game 3: Sunday October 6th: Julio Teheran v. Hyun-Jin Ryu 7:07 pm TBS
Game 4: Monday October 7th: Freddy Garcia v. Ricky Nolasco 8:37 pm TBS
Game 5: Wednesday October 9th: Clayton Kershaw v. Kris Medlen 7:37 pm TBS (If Necessary)

Five Things to Watch
Kershaw and Greinke: Pitch bros, we need a nickname for them - Definitely needs to happen. Greinke will never allow it to happen. He would probably be like 'Whatever dude, I am just Zack.'  Here are a couple I came up with off the top of my head... The Pitch Life of Zack and Clayton', (God that sucks). The KG Express maybe? I mean that seems to get used a lot when talking about pitching... The so-so express.  I have no idea I wish I did because they are awesome and will be very hard to beat in back-to-back games.

Puig get under Braves skin? - Oh god I hope so. If you remember in the last couple weeks of the season, Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez pinched a nerve by looking at a home run against the Braves. Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez did the same thing a week later nearly enticing a baseball riot at Turner Field. Yasiel Puig is a guy known for looking at his home runs. He also loves the bright lights and I have a feeling this will be a huge month for him. If Puig looks at a home run, will Brian McCann lose his shit? My guess is yes.

Boom or bust Braves - The Braves have been shutout 15 times on the year. They also can hit home runs with the best of them. They are an all or nothing team. That would concern me going up against a team with a very solid three-man rotation with Ricky Nolasco there as well who is not bad at all. Atlanta needs to work on manufacturing runs when there are runners on especially in scoring position.

Dan Uggla left off the playoff roster - I found this pretty interesting as he is the highest-paid player on the Braves roster and he will not be playing for them. The Braves have replacements and honestly, it helps the whole 'Boom/Bust' thing as Uggla is one of the biggest criminals when it comes that one. Elliot Johnson, a second basemen Atlanta brought in from Kansas City, will take Uggla's spot in the order. If it were me, I would have kept Uggla on the bench and hope he might provide a long fly in a big situation playing to his boom/bust potential.

Dodgers will not happy to be there - Some have made the argument that the Dodgers might just be happy to come back from the dregs of the National League West to be the playoffs, I do not see it that way. They are a really good team. No matter if money bought the team, they are really good in all facets of the game. In my opinion, Los Angeles is the favorite to make it to the World Series in the National League.

Prediction
The Dodgers will sweep the Braves. They have two ace pitchers going in the first two games. Atlanta is a team susceptible to being shutout and I think that happens in at least one of the games. Los Angeles will dominate this series.
