We write recaps of the big games or when a head coach gets fired before we get to the month of October. Then there are the other games and teams worth talking about which is why we created SnoTap College Football Try.
Stanford holds off pesky Washington - The Goofy Tree should have not won this football game. Ty Montgomery single-handily bailed out Stanford. Kevin Hogan did not play well at all, but Montgomery pulled his best Dante Hall impression with 290 all-purpose yards. Washington looks like the real deal and I feel for them they could not pull off the upset and now head home to face Oregon in what should be an absolute classic. I am not sold on Stanford at all though. It makes me think this team might be a little, just a little overrated.Things between South Carolina and Clowney are getting testy - Jadeveon Clowney sat out of South Carolina's win against Kentucky. Steve Spurrier said 'If he wants to play, we will welcome him to play.' I do not really understand it nor do I have a real frame of reference to speak on it. Clowney is worried about his draft money, but the thing is if he wants his draft stock to stay at sky high levels, he needs to be out there. Clowney does not even need to make impact plays rather just keep disrupting what an offense is trying to do.
Georgia pays dearly for his win - The Bulldogs escaped Knoxville on Saturday with a 34-31 overtime win against Tennessee thanks to Alton 'Fats' Howard fumbling into the endzone in the first overtime period. Georgia lost Keith Marshall and Justin Scott-Wesley for the season meaning they have more skill players watching the game in street clothes than actually playing. People are concerned about Todd Gurley's injury as well. I do not know how long Georgia can go on doing this without all of these players.
Baylor keeps dropping offensive bombs - If you do not love Baylor, I feel like you are missing out on a great thing in life. This team is averaging over 70 points a game and they gained 864 yards in ONE FOOTBALL GAME. I do not care about it being just the Big 12 because this is flat out impressive, no matter what conference. I mentioned this last week or the week before because I always write about Baylor because frankly, I have a Baylor boner, but this feels like the lower ranked team we all slept on going into the season.
Florida might be better than I give them credit for - I am starting to wonder how good Florida is as a complete football team. Arkansas does not have much of a defense, but Florida looks real good. Tyler Murphy is a competent quarterback and it seems like he had a nice relationship with Solo Patton. Add their defense which is still pretty much unstoppable, and this is a damn good Gators team who like Georgia has not lost inside the SEC.
Chapel Hill, home to the regression - North Carolina is now 1-4 and 0-2 in the ACC. There are always a couple teams where you do not see things coming from teams. Usually, we focus on the unknown successes but the unknown failures do not get looked at as much. Carolina brought back their quarterback and a lot of their defense even if their defense seemed to be pretty average. Losing to teams like South Carolina and Virginia Tech is one thing, giving up 55 points to East Carolina is a completely other thing.
Oklahoma State fan defines Icona Pop's song 'I Don't Care' - Love this guy's hustle. H/T to Andy Gray of Sports Illustrated for the picture.
