SnoTap College Try Week 12

After a couple weeks of doing some different stuff with college football, we are back with College Football Try basically talking about different things that happened during Saturday's slate of games.

Wisconsin bulldozes Indiana to victory and continues to make a BCS case - We all knew Indiana was not a good defensive team, but they still showed some glimmers of being a decent team. Indiana looked like one of the old versions of this team and got destroyed on the ground. Badgers rushed for 554 yards with James White rushing for 204 yards and Melvin Gordon rushing for 146 in his own right. Jared Abbrederis, a wide receiver, rushed for 86 yards on three carries. Forgotten in the dominance is the Badgers shut down a fairly good Indiana offense that put up at least 28 points in the first nine games of the season. Wisconsin faces a big test this week heading to Minnesota.

Coach O wants to be the next Trojans head coach - There are a couple things clear with USC. One, all of the players hated to play for Lane Kiffin. It is pretty obvious USC's next coach should be someone with personality to keep these players loose. Second, Ed Ogreron will get a head coaching job next season. I do not know if it will be at USC because a part of me feels like Pat Haden wants to make a splash hire even if the kids love playing for Coach O. Haden definitely has an interesting situation going forward especially if USC beats UCLA and probably puts themselves in position to be in the Holiday or maybe the Alamo Bowl.

THA DUKIES BABY!!!!!! - Duke has two losses and control its own destiny to the ACC Championship. They will play Florida State in what will be billed as 'David v. Goliath' and if I am a Florida State fan, Duke is the last team I want to play for the ACC tittle. They do have two road games against rivals in the last two weeks playing Wake Forest and North Carolina. Both teams are not very good yet both would love nothing more than ruining Duke's dream of an ACC Coastal crown. Duke looks like a well-oiled machine, and they have become a team to watch for the final couple of weeks.

Poor Northwestern - I feel bad for the Wildcats. Ever since Ohio State, it has been a steady downhill for them. Just when you think it could not get any worse than a Hail Mary loss, Michigan finds a way to sneak in a field goal in about two seconds. It is completely incredible execution by everyone on the Wolverines and then they end up beating Northwestern in three overtimes. Wildcats need to beat Michigan State and Illinois to become bowl eligible. I doubt this happens for them. What a disappointing season for Northwestern.

Baylor bounces back after tough first quarter - Before heading out to dinner, Baylor trailed early by Texas Tech. It seemed like Red Raiders came ready to pull off the upset and that was the highlight of their game. After their 20 point first quarter, Texas Tech only had 14 points while Baylor put up 21 in the first quarter and 63 for the game. The Bears looked strong again on offense with a five touchdown performance by Bryce Petty and their defense tighten up after the first quarter. Baylor also keeps inching closer to Ohio State for the third spot in the BCS.

Holgo on the hot seat? - I think it is fair to start talking about Dana Holgorsen's future with West Virginia. I would be shocked if they fired him after this season, but I feel like he will start the 2014 season on the hottest of seats. In 2012, West Virginia started 5-0 with everyone praising Holgo only to lose five straight games afterwards getting a mediocre bowl game that they lost to Syracuse. They lose to Kansas on Saturday in dominating fashion making sure West Virginia misses the bowl season for the first time since 2001, Rich Rodriguez's first year as head coach.
