Thursday night football can be entertaining, sloppy, and everything else under the sun honestly. I make picks to help clear your head.
NFLIndianapolis (6-3) (-3) at Tennessee (4-5) 7:25 pm NFLN - I have no idea what to make of Indianapolis. I said as much in the liquor cabinet. My concern with the Colts is they did not look like they were the same without Reggie Wayne. Andrew Luck did not seem like himself against St. Louis as the Rams blew the doors off Indianapolis last week. Luck needs to find a new go-to guy. The thing is I do not know who that is on Indianapolis. Sure, TY Hilton is there, but in my opinion, Hilton is not a possession guy yet. He reminds me of the early days of Mike Wallace in Pittsburgh where you could throw a fly or a deep post to him and only Hilton is getting the football. Indianapolis has to figure out some things on offense.
The microscope will be magnified on Trent Richardson. Criticism from everyone and their mother for dealing a first-round pick for a player whom cannot seem to get a couple yards. It reminds me a bit of Ron Dayne or any other Big Ten running back in the sense he got so many carries in college that Richardson seems a little burned out. I have no idea if Richardson will improve, and he could struggle given Tennessee's tough defense.
As for the Titans, they shit the bed against Jacksonville. Hell, they lose all bowel movements in the bed. They blew a perfect opportunity to gain some ground in not only the AFC South but also the AFC Wild Card. Jake Locker will not play in this game meaning Ryan Fitzpatrick gets introduce to primetime audience which should be a sight to see because he's pretty bad and usually good for two crazy turnovers. And that's why I will take Indianapolis as I attempt to lose my third straight Thursday night affair. IND 21-17
College Football
Georgia Tech at 8. Clemson 6:30 pm ESPN - This is one Badgers fans should keep an eye on tonight. If Wisconsin wants to squeeze their way into a BCS game (Post on this tomorrow), they need teams like Clemson to lose. The Tigers responded with two big blowout wins against Maryland and Virginia after getting blown out by Florida State. Georgia Tech is a team of runs. Yellow Jackets started the season with three wins then had three losses now they have three straight wins. They need this win to maintain a chance at making the ACC Championship. They would need a Virginia Tech loss to either Maryland or Virginia for it to happen, but this would still give them a chance. Whenever picking a Georgia Tech game, you have to look at running statistics as the Yellow Jackets are fourth in the nation in running the ball. The Tigers can stop the run as they are 32nd in the country and I think that will be enough to carry them to victory in this one. CLEM 31-21
Charlie.
